There are a few meanings allocated to this well-known Chinese Yin Yang symbol, sometimes called Tai-Chi symbol. One is to represent the sun (Yang) and moon (Yin) in Chinese philosophy of the universe. Black represents Yin and white represents Yang. Another is the masculine and feminine, Yin being the receptive, feminine, dark, passive force and yang being the creative, masculine, bright, active force. The reverse side of the pendant is highly polished with three surfboard fins at the base of the pendant.
